WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Office of Financial Research (OFR) announced a call for papers for its 2023 PhD Symposium. The event is scheduled for Friday, October 27, in Washington, D.C.

The PhD Symposium is an opportunity for upper-year PhD candidates to receive constructive feedback on their work from economists and other subject matter experts at the OFR and other Financial Stability Oversight Council member agencies. Consistent with the OFR’s mission, the Office will only consider papers that are on topics related to financial stability. The OFR will only accept papers from authors who are students currently enrolled in a U.S. PhD program.

The OFR helps promote financial stability by looking across the financial system to measure and analyze risks, perform essential research, and collect and standardize financial data, principally to support the Financial Stability Oversight Council and its member agencies. In addition, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act requires the OFR to analyze threats to the financial stability of the United States each year and provide a report to Congress with its key findings.
